Upon arriving in Puerto Montt, you will be picked up and transferred for 1.5 hours to your hotel in Puerto Varas, Chile’s Lake District.
Here you will get to enjoy the serenity and solitude of nature as you trek along an astonishing trail through a forest of ‘Canelo’ trees and continue towards the Chaica River’s waterfall, passing through lush green areas filled with larch trees, ferns and lichens. You will even get the opportunity to pass by the park’s ‘Millennial Larch’, a monumental 2000-year-old tree.
Along the way, keep an eye out for the native wildlife such as Chilean deer, Pumas, guiñas (a wild cat) as well as Magellanic woodpeckers, kingfishers, and the Harris ́s hawk to name a few. Before returning along the same path, you will stop and enjoy your boxed lunch and admire the surrounding nature, then, meet your driver who will transfer you to your hotel in Puerto Varas.

Total excursion time: approx. 7 hours (4-5 hours of hiking, 2.5 hours of vehicle transfers)
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Once done with your final meal in Chile’s lake district, head back to Puerto Montt airport for your upcoming flight back home with a stopover in Santiago.
