Step beyond the familiar shores of Lake Titicaca into the living archaeology of the Aymara altiplano. This full-day journey connects three rarely visited sites that reveal the agricultural mastery, spiritual depth, and mysticism of pre-Inca and Inca civilizations – captured from above by drone.
The first stop are the Waru Warus of Acora, a pre-Hispanic agricultural engineering marvel still partially active today. These raised earthen platforms, surrounded by water channels, generated their own microclimate to shield crops from the brutal Andean frost – a millennia-old solution that modern agronomists continue to study. Nearby, the Necropolis of Molloco ten circular and quadrangular tombs stand side by side, where Lupaca and Inca burial traditions intermingle – evidence of two cultures that shared this altiplano landscape in harmony.
The journey culminates at Aramu Muru, a monolithic stone doorway carved into a cliff face – seven meters wide, seven meters tall – in a remote rocky landscape known as City of Spirits.
