IMPORTANT
Itinerary may vary based on wildlife sightings, water levels, navigability, and air schedules.

Upon arrival in Cusco, transfer to your hotel.
Transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo. The train ride with the Vistadome Valley Train takes you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas and up to Machu Picchu.

Upon arrival, a small coach takes you up the steep roads to the entrance of the citadel. For centuries Machu Picchu remained undiscovered by the Spaniards and has only been found in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham. During a guided tour you will experience the uniqueness of the location and the genius that went into its construction, making this Inca site one of the seven new wonders of the world. Enjoy dinner at your hotel.
After breakfast, you will be escorted by your guide and re-enter Machu Picchu so that you can climb the Machu Picchu Mountain (3000m/9,842ft). Upon reaching the summit you will be able to take in impressive views of the Citadel of Machu Picchu and its surroundings including the top of the Wayna Picchu Mountain and the Urubamba River.

In the afternoon, you will return with the Vistadome Valley Train from Aguas Calientes directly to San Pedro train station in Cusco. This relatively new train ride enters Cusco city in the evening allowing you to have views of the illuminated city.

IMPORTANT
The Aguas Calientes - Cusco train ride runs only from May through December
Get ready to explore Cusco’s gems on foot! Your walking tour starts at the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art. Hosted in a beautiful colonial casona, this collection is dedicated to rebound the arts of ancient Peruvian cultures and showcases an astounding pre-Columbian collection dating from 1250 B.C to 1532 A.D. Once back at the main square, enter ‘La Compania’, one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in the Americas. Built by the Jesuits in the 16th century over the site of the Amara Cancha Inca palace in a deliberate attempt to rival the Cathedral of Cusco, La Compania contains a grand gold-leaf altarpiece and several works of art by locals. There will be time for some snapshots of Koricancha or ‘Temple of the Sun’, a fine example of the fusion of Inca and colonial architecture (only visited from the outside). Finally, get on the bus for a 10-min drive to visit Cusco’s most impressive fortress, Sacsayhuaman. The largest stones used in its construction are nearly 8.5 m (28 ft) high and weigh 360 tons, fitting so perfectly together that a single piece of paper is not able to fit between two stones.
Morning transfer from your hotel in Cusco to the airport for your flight to Pisco (flight Cusco – Pisco: only FRI & SUN from July through November). Upon arrival in Pisco, transfer to your hotel in Paracas.

This afternoon, you will experience the dunes of Peru in a very exciting way. After a 20-min drive to Adrenarena Park, you will meet your guide and get a quick safety briefing. Then, it’s time to hold on tight during this thrilling ride over the dunes of the so-called Californian desert in a dune buggy. The buggies have been completely customized to be lightweight and very stable. They have armchair seats and seatbelts must be worn throughout the entire driving adventure. Along the way, you will stop in the desert for photos and a chance to try sandboarding. After your 1-hour tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel

IMPORTANT
The ride will be bumpy you will cross dunes ranging from 5 to 100 meters height. Guests with back, neck or heart problems or pregnant women should not take part in this tour.
Today, an exciting two-hour boat ride aboard Hotel La Hacienda’s own roofed cruise vessel is the perfect way to explore the fragmented Ballestas Islands, known for their abundance of sea lion colonies and families of chattering Humboldt Penguins. The islands are often described as a so-called ‘mini Galapagos’ due to the unusually high levels of coastal wildlife which live here. Along the way, you will pass the ‘Candelabro’; a giant geoglyph carved into the desert dunes, perfectly visible from the water.

Little is known as to the origins or meaning of this ancient creation, with its appearance not dissimilar to that of the more famous Nasca lines, adding a little archaeological intrigue into the excursion. The main event, however, is, of course, the wildlife, so sit back and enjoy the ride along this intriguing section of the Peruvian coastline. Once back on dry land, hot drinks and cookies are provided to round things off perfectly.

Later, you will make your way to the Queirolo Hotel in Ica, where your afternoon tour will begin with a guided walk through the vineyards of the prestigious Peruvian Pisco brand, Santiago Queirolo. The sommelier will explain the differences between various types of grapes and the process of growing and ripening them. Afterwards you will take a look at the distillery and learn about the production process of the wine and Pisco.

Then, take a 10-minute drive to a lookout point where you will enjoy a delicious glass of sparkling wine with the beautiful views overlooking the vineyards. Back at the winery, you will finally have the chance to taste some of the Queirolo wines and Pisco’s, before sitting down to a well-deserved lunch.
Early in the morning, set out on your excursion to the ‘Cañon de los Perdidos’ (Canyon of the Lost). Thanks to its secluded location amidst the desert landscape, the journey to this hidden natural beauty is an adventure on its own. First, drive south on the Panamericana, then drive onto unpaved roads and into the desert landscape. After a 2.5 hours’ drive, you will reach the canyon, which was formed over millions of years by water and wind. The view over the canyon is a unique sight. The experience is crowned with a descent of medium difficulty into the canyon, from where you can admire the amazing rock formations from a special perspective. In the early afternoon, head back to Ica.
Today, enjoy a morning flight (in a small 12 passenger plane) over the Nasca Lines. During the 30-minute circuit, you can take pictures of some of the most famous images, like the condor, the hummingbird, and many more. Best viewed from the air, these huge geometric patterns, animal figures and hundreds of perfectly straight lines were carved into the desert sand by the Nasca people centuries ago.

Enjoy a delightful lunch in a historic country house, the Hacienda San Jose. The Hacienda is a seventeenth-century building that has been declared Cultural Heritage in 1970. Located in the district of El Carmen, in Chincha, just a three-hour drive south of Lima, this country house is one of a kind in Peru’s South. Chincha’s Afro-Peruvian culture goes way back to the 17th century when contingents of slaves from Africa were brought to pick cotton and sugar. The African presence in El Carmen remains strong today and is reflected at its best in the folk music, dances and gastronomy. The Hacienda San Jose is surrounded by green gardens and a beautiful pool.

After lunch, you will make your way to Lima, where you will take your international flight home.
