Setours got its start under the entrepreneurial Gloria Velasco as a branch office of a Swiss company organizing charter flights to Peru . At that time, the newly formed company 'Servicios Turisticos Generales - Setours' only provided assistance for European passengers arriving in Lima.

In 1977, Heddy de Vilchez began to work as manager, until 1981, when the Vilchez family acquired the entire company from the Velasco family. A change in the regulation for charter flights in 1982 was the springboard for Setours expansion. Foreign charter companies were no longer allowed to operate in Peru.

This event forced the company to radically change its strategy. Thus, Setours started its activities as autonomous tour operator and began to organize and offer a wider range of guided tours throughout the country. The first target for product development was the European market. Much has happened since then.

In 1987 an office in Miraflores, the modern, commercial heart of Lima , was acquired to provide a headquarters. Our original staff of four has grown to 40 full-time employees.

While our headquarters specializes in creating, selling and managing our extensive range of holiday programs; our own branch in Cusco is focused on guaranteeing a high quality of service in the most visited Peruvian city. Our commitment to offer a personalized service in Peru has been rewarded by clients in other countries who work with us not only in Peru but also in other destinations such as Bolivia , Chile , Brazil , Ecuador and Argentina.

After years of work and dedication we have gained a reputation for reliable service but we have also managed to engender a happy work culture where staff and partners are treated fairly and with respect, as part of the Setours family.

Today Heddy’s daughter Fanny and her husband Peter Holzweber guide the company. Both bring a cross-over and cross-cultural knowledge gained after years of working experience in different industry fields in Europe and Latin America. Fanny and Peter oversee strategy and growth and are committed to strengthen Setours philosophy based on integrity, innovation and respect.
